These cottages are delightful and beautifully placed with views of rolling fields and a tiny stroll to golden sands. The photographs are nice but from the moment you open the door, you realise these cottages are much much more than nice, they are exceptional, Rosie has thought of everything that a holidaying couple, family, families would ever need with extra special touches. Sparkling clean, comfy beds, cosy fire and aesthetically pleasing in every way. Our stay here was just perfect, with the beach walks and stunning Rye just a very short drive away, it’s the perfect staycation. Kelly, No 2 Shepherd’s Cottages, October 2020.
Rosie’s place is just wonderful! The cottage is peaceful, has plenty of space for everyone’s needs, is beautifully decorated, and is sooooo well equipped!!! The bedrooms are all a good size and very comfortable. My teenage son thought the snug off the lounge was just, and I quote, ‘the best’! On our arrival the cottage had been thoughtfully prepared – it was warm, a few lights were on and there was milk in the fridge and as well as a selection of teas and delicious treats (I warn you the cookies are very more-ish!). Rosie and her family were such welcoming hosts and made some great recommendations. Caroline, No 1. Shepherd’s Cottages, October 2020.
This is a beautiful little hut in a beautiful location. Privacy and a lovely sense of being in nature is assured. A lasting memory will be of watching a barn owl through the large window at the end of the bed, while the little woodburner crackled in the corner. Magical. Christopher, The Salty Shepherd, October 2020
Our trip was perfect in every way! The Hut is gorgeous and perfect for anyone looking for a remote trip away (while also being close enough to some fabulous pubs and restaurants). The hut itself was incredibly cosy (and the bed is VERY comfy), it was so difficult to leave it! I definitely recommend getting the full breakfast hamper, as the sausages are to die for. We will almost certainly visit again! The Salty Shepherd, October 2020.
Absolutely amazing! Soahib, The Salty Shepherd, July 2020
Rosie’s place was a wonderful escape from the city. The location was excellent and really easy to find, with gorgeous views all around, and just a short walk to the beachfront. It was quiet and peaceful, with only the sound of a car from the road nearby occasionally. The house and garden was beautifully well-kept and sparkling clean, and the decor was modern yet still maintained the feel of cottage charm. The beds were extremely cosy; I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a while! Rosie was super lovely, very responsive and communicative every step of the way, a truly great host. Will recommend to everyone! Nadia, No. 2 Shepherds Cottages, March 2020
Wonderful property, great location close to the beach and beautifully presented home. We would highly recommend this property. Loved it. Sebastian, No. 2 Shepherds Cottages February 2020
WOW what a perfect place to get away from it all. We could have laid in that bed and watched the ever changing picture window for days. The Shepherd’s hut has everything you could need, it really is perfectly laid out and done up beautifully. Just bring a couple of your favourite board games, a couple of bottles of wine and switch off from it all. We’ll be back for sure. Polly 2019
I honestly can’t throw enough superlatives at this review to explain just how amazing the hut and its location are. The setting is so peaceful and quiet. I haven’t slept as well in years! Watching the sun rise/set through the window each day was magnificent. Just a 15 minute walk from the beach and a further 1hr 15mins walk to Rye, the location is spot on. We walked the dog all the way to Rye along the beach and explored a few pubs, before heading back to Camber on the bus. Thanks so much to Rosie for her hospitality and help throughout. She recommended a fantastic fishmonger in Rye where we bought some mackerel and prawns from for the bbq! Book a weekend at the Salty Shepherd and you most certainly won’t regret it. Charlie 2019
Rosie’s shepherd’s hut was absolutely incredible. I bought this holiday for my parents as a thank you for hosting my wedding at their house. Every morning when I rang my mum she was full of praises for Rosie and her hut. The bedding and all personal touches were of such high quality and the breakfast was fantastic. Thank you so, so much Rosie for hosting them. I would 100% recommend this stay. x Georgia 2019
The Salty Shepherd Hut is a real gem. It’s in an amazing location with fabulous views, feels really private and totally immersed in nature. It’s only a few mins walk/cycle to fabulous beaches! Caroline 2019
The Salty Shepherd was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Rosie went well out of her way to ensure the most comfortable stay possible. It was impossible not to wind down in such a fantastic location and the hut struck the perfect balance of stylish design and cosiness. The venue could not have been better and felt miles from anywhere without being isolate. It is a unique and wonderful place to stay and I enjoyed every single second. Thank you Rosie – you have created somewhere very special. Rachel 2017
Rosie is a friendly and helpful host, practically arriving at the hut the moment we needed anything. She was full of enthusiasm about the local wildlife and area. We saw hares, marsh harriers, barn owls and badgers all from the huge window in the hut at the foot of the bed which was magical. The hut is perfect – stylish decoration, highly practical and immaculate. We loved curling up beneath the blankets with the wood-burner after days out walking. Wonderful location from which to explore and truly unwind. The skies from the hut seem huge with stunning sunsets – you feel a million miles from anywhere. Just perfect! Alicja 2017
The Salty Shepherd was a brilliant escape from it all. Waking up, and seeing the beautiful view out of the window at the end of the bed was lovely. The peace and tranquility was just what we needed. Also the layout inside and design of everything was so well thought out. The breakfast foods that we had pre-ordered from Rosie were delicious, and the best bacon eggs and sausages! With the beach being so close too, it’s the perfect retreat. We’ll definitely be going back! Marisa 2016
Our weekend stay in the Salty Shepherd was absolutely perfect. The hut is thoughtfully designed so it’s both stylish and practical – we had everything we needed. The log burner made it very cosy, and we were never chilly. We’d definitely recommend ‘ordering’ one of Rosie’s breakfasts – we cooked up a delicious Full English using her fresh, local ingredients. We enjoyed a long walk on Camber Sands beach, explored Rye (visited Knoops for BOWLS of hot chocolate, The Globe and The Standard Inn – recommend all three), and just generally enjoyed the peaceful silence! All in all, if you’re looking for a relaxing escape, looking no further than the Salty Shephard. We can’t wait to come back for some summer BBQs! – Ian 2016
We run our own business & so escape time is uber important to us – to unwind & chill & being married & business partners – have some time, just us…we found Salty Shepherd on Air BnB & I was instantly drawn to its charm & unique. It absolutely didn’t disappoint. The interior has been done beautifully – details really matter & Rosie has thought of everything – it was a feast for the eyes both internally & externally…soft towels, the comfiest bed, mini wood burner, huge window at the foot of the bed, meaning you can gaze at the expansive view…great shower, candles, home made fudge… We took food & were easily able to make dinner & breakfast – then treated ourselves to lunch at The Globe (recommended by Rosie)…new fav pub! What a special place & that’s hard to create – some places / people have it – some don’t – this does – in spades !! Huge thank you to our hosts for making our short time special & relaxed – we will be back & recommend to others – Anna & Mark 2016
Our night at The Salty Shepherd was really wonderful. Secluded, cosy and such a lovely surrounding. I’d highly recommend this little spot of magic – Hamish 2015
The hut is beautiful, exactly as depicted in the photographs – remote, peaceful and in a gorgeous setting and utterly luxurious and comfortable inside. The perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries – Heather 2015.
Fab night away at this blissfully relaxing retreat. Only negative… we only had one night at this oasis. Hope to return ASAP – Emily 2015.

Our host was welcoming but never intrusive. The setting was unexpectedly relaxing because of the flat yet restful landscape. Everything provided exuded quality and comfort and we appreciated the locally sourced produce included in our breakfast basket – Jan 2015.
When we drove up we had no idea what to expect. It is such a wonderful and unique place to stay. A perfect little oasis in the middle of vast land and sky. Inside is perfection – we loved the Romney Wool blankets, the window at the foot of the bed, the towels, the sheets, everything. The attention to detail is wonderful. This is glamping at its finest. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, we’d love to visit again! Will 2015.
